Athletic Therapists are specialists in orthopedics, meaning we deal exclusively with injuries to muscles, bones, joints, and nerves. Our entire four years of schooling is spent learning to assess, treat, and rehabilitate this system. We are required to do many hours of practicum placements in both and the field and clinic settings as well as many practical exams to ensure our skills are up to par prior to certifying. Athletic Therapists also have training in emergency medical response so that we are fully capable of dealing with any emergency medical situation as it arises while on the sideline at sporting events. Athletic Therapists are required to do continuing education on a yearly basis to ensure our skills are always up to date. Physiotherapists complete a 2 year master’s degree program, where their education is split between orthopedics, cardiorespiratory, neurological, paediatrics, sport, and women’s health.
Yes, our services are covered by most insurance companies. However, every plan is different and not every employer decides to have Athletic Therapy added to it. Therefore, we recommend that you speak with your insurance company prior to your appointment to see if you are indeed covered. If you are not covered we recommend:
  • Speaking with your insurance provider as well as your employer to see if it can be added to your plan.
  • If you have a health or personal spending account on your insurance plan, your Athletic Therapy visits can be added to it.
  • If you were injured playing hockey, Hockey Canada has insurance that will cover your Athletic Therapy visits contact us if you need assistance with this.
  • Many clients don’t mind paying out of pocket as they value the service they receive at our clinic and have better outcomes than they have in the past with other therapies.
We fix your injuries and get rid of your pain! We utilize a variety of techniques including- manual therapy, massage, modalities, and exercise to get you feeling your best and back to doing what you love as quickly and safely as possible.
This varies greatly depending on multiple factors. Including the nature of your injury, how long this has been going on for, and your dedication to your rehab.
We have a unique approach to treatment and rehab this is probably different then what you have tried previously. We are the only clinic in Saskatchewan to offer P-DTR treatments and so therefore we may be able to help where other therapies are lacking.
At O’Neill Sports Therapy, our one-on-one appointments are 45 mins to 1 hour long; whereas, other places often will see 4-6 patients per hour. Due to our individualized approach and the homework we give you in between sessions, our patients often require fewer appointments. Therefore, the total cost of rehab is often less in the end.
